Timing your day matters more than the month in high summer. The water is calmest and clearest before mid-morning and again in the late afternoon. This route departs from Malta's north. Travel times to the lagoon vary sharply by where the boat leaves from: from the Cirkewwa and Marfa area the crossing is only 10 to 15 minutes, from Bugibba and St Paul's Bay around 45 minutes, and from the Sliema side 70 to 90 minutes.
